Here's the so, so wanted traslation! :D
I’m sorry for the really really bad translations but it’s a paradox: in Italian this is an easy text because is just a long list of things, but translating it to English making clear what it’s the point of it all is really hard.
So, here we go, one of the greatest Ministri’s lyrics ever:
Us outside from the biggest hopes and their gears
Us outside from the radios, the beaches, the fat cows
Outside from parades, burocracy, outside manifactures and museums
It’s from above that they divide us, it’s up above that they create the danger
Us outside the fields of pride and the anxiety of medals
Us outside, we are the water wasted on the edge of a desert
Outside parades, burocracy, outside manufactures and museums
It’s from above that they shatter us, it’s up above that they create the danger
Us outside the radios, the minutes of silence, the countdowns, the consent
From the surveys, the schools of Our Lord, the flower beds, the construction sites
Us outside, we don’t know what to do
Outside the parades, against the geography
Outside churches and into anthills
It’s from above that they divide us, it’s up above that they create the danger
Us outside the lists, the challenges, the documents, the curves
The speeches, the courses, the fights, the lobbies, the eclipses
The theaters, the auctions, the infections, the plague
The luxury and the misery, the parties with severe drugs
The concerts with chairs, the solariums, the gardens with peacocks
The ballets, the amnesties, Manzoni and Mameli
The founding conditions, from good people’s souvenirs
The congresses, the tips, the exit polls
The nurseries and pensions
Us outside, we don’t know what to do
It is basically a long list of things from which Federico, and Ministri in general, feels out of. It’s a long list of things Ministri, being all under 30 years old young Italians are naturally out.
You might now by now the horrible situation this country is in, and has been in from the last 10 years (to say the last). This song is about being young and wanting to think about the future, and while doing this you just look around and there are so many things you will never have, such as an house, a work, a pension when you get old, and all this situation created by the most evil politic class we ever had just to create individualism, ignorance and frustration amongst young people so they can sit their asses on their chairs and have the power to do what they please.
It’s basically all about that: “keep them away from being sure and safe with their future, they’ll be so busy being depressed they’re not going to think of what we are doing”.
The video for this song wants to show a boy/young man in it’s frustration of being: stuck home, forced to be a forever son of, trapped in a room alone, undecided on what to do, depressed with it’s work. And all it goes with some “typical Italian mom’s quotes” which degenerates in the end showing the real situation of those sons and daughters that don’t know what the hell they should do with their lives.
