Ebih-Il from Mari
Meet my friend Ebih-Il high superintendent of Mari.
Mari was a city in the middle of Eufrate's path in the easter part of Siria, founded around 2300 years a.C.
When Mari was a powerful city in Europe we still had few wooden houses and repairs around the territory. And while we were still discovering the amenities of living in villages Mari was full of stone and brick buildings, beauriful palaces and temples and their kings and shakkanakku traded goods and ideas with other great cities of Iraq such as Ur. When Mari was at his highest point opposed itself both against Assirians and Babilonians.
Finally in its late years the city was invaded and definately destroyed by Babilonians, who once were its best allied, after having greatly survived to Akkadian kings' invasions Mari was completely burned to ground. PS: pics taken by me in the Louvre, I had to be really furtive taking it and so...excuse me for bad quality.
